Menies Beach
Tucked away at the northeastern tip of the wild Rodopos Peninsula, Menies (also known as Diktynna) is a tranquil, isolated cove that combines untouched natural beauty with rich ancient history.

The Landscape:
This secluded beach features fine pebbles, deep blue-green waters, and a sheltered bay protected from strong prevailing winds. Surrounded by steep, arid cliffs and wild Cretan flora, it offers an untouched, peaceful atmosphere far removed from organized commercial tourism.

The Ancient Setting:
Sharing the exact same location as the ancient Sanctuary of Diktynna, swimming here allows you to explore the stone foundations, Roman ruins, and ancient cistern remnants just steps from the shore. The integration of ancient history directly alongside the beach makes it one of the most uniquely evocative coastal spots in western Crete.

Rider’s/Explorer's Notes:
The Access: Reaching Menies by land requires navigating a rough, unpaved dirt road running roughly 15 to 20 kilometers down the spine of the peninsula from Rodopos village. The track features loose rocks, deep ruts, and slow speeds, making a high-clearance 4x4 or an adventure/dual-sport motorcycle necessary. Alternatively, many visitors reach the cove by boat from Kolymbari or Kissamos.
