Frankocastello, Fort,
West Crete
Frankocastello was build by the Venetians during 1371 - 1374. The Venetians named it by the nearby church of saint Nikitas, but the locals dubbed it as "Frankocastello" meaning the castle of Franks. It is preserved today in a rather good condition.
