Preveli, Beach,
Middle Crete
Preveli beach is a pebble and sand beach at the end of the Kissano gorge (which is joined by Kourtaliotiko gorge further up). There are palm trees at both sides of the river and water flows all year long to the sea. Preveli palm forest was the favorite place of hippies during the 70's, and is probably the most famous beach in southern Crete. About 15 minutes walk is required to reach the beach, through a marked path from the east.
