Stefanou Beach (Seitan Limania)
Tucked away in a wild, narrow cove on the rugged eastern coast of the Akrotiri peninsula, Stefanou Beach—widely known as Seitan Limania ("Satan's Harbors")—is one of Crete's most striking and unique coastal landscapes.

Landscape & Unique Features:
The beach sits at the bottom of a dramatic, zigzagging marble canyon carved into steep limestone cliffs. Protected from open ocean waves, the sheltered cove features fine white pebbles mixed with soft sand and crystal-clear, vivid turquoise water that contrasts sharply with the stark, arid rock walls rising on both sides.

The Environment & Name:
The area earned its ominous Ottoman-era name ("Satan's Harbors") due to the treacherous sea currents and sharp, hidden rocks along the coastline that made navigating the waters hazardous for sailors. Today, the secluded inlet offers a dramatic, untouched environment where wild goats frequently roam down the canyon walls right onto the shore.

Rider’s/Explorer's Notes:
The Access: Reached via a winding, paved road from Chordaki village down to a parking lot above the bay. From the end of the road, reaching the beach requires a steep 10-to-15-minute hike down a rugged, unpaved dirt trail. Sturdy shoes are strongly recommended for the descent down the rocky path.
