The fortress temenos of Nikiforos Fokas is a Byzantine era fortress located on a twin peak hill called Roka. It's just a few kilometers south of Heraklion, next to the village Profitis Ilias. Temenos was built by the Byzantine general Nikoforos Fokas. It was a quite big fortress, covering an area of more than 500 acres.
