Trigiodo Peak & Abandoned Ski Resort
Rising above the high-altitude terrain of Mount Ida (Psiloritis) west of the Nida Plateau, Trigiodo Peak stands as a commanding summit host to high-altitude telecommunication antennas, overlooking the wild interior of Crete.

The Views & Landscape:
From the summit of Trigiodo, visitors are rewarded with sweeping, 360-degree vistas across the surrounding peaks of the Psiloritis massif, the Nida basin, and down toward both the northern and southern coastlines. The rugged, wind-carved limestone terrain epitomizes the stark, untamed high-altitude landscape of central Crete.

The Abandoned Ski Resort:
Along the mountain road ascending toward Trigiodo Peak lie the weathered, concrete and stone remains of Crete's ambitious late-1970s ski resort project. Initiated to boost winter tourism in the highlands above Anogeia, the facility featured a mountain chalet and planned lift infrastructure. Today, the abandoned structures stand as a surreal, atmospheric monument to past mountain developments, now primarily used as shelter by local free-roaming livestock.

Rider’s/Explorer's Notes:
The Access: Reached via a branch road turning west from the paved route that leads down to the Nida Plateau. The road climbs steeply up toward the ridge and antenna installations. While sections remain asphalted, the upper stretches can feature weathered pavement, rockfall debris, or unpaved patches, making an adventure motorcycle or high-clearance vehicle ideal for the climb.
